Mr. Bento Lunch Jar Reviews
“On first look, I actually thought the bowls were quite small and I might have trouble filling up my husband’s stomach. Haha. But my worries were unfounded as he said the portions were just right. As we cook Asian and Japanese recipes really often, this lunch jar does its job very well in keeping the meal as separate dishes. I often try to make a four-course meal of soup, rice/ noodles, a vegetable or meat side dish and fruits/snacks. My only complaint is it would be perfect if at least three bowls can be kept warm, instead of only two (the soup and main bowl). The two bowls at the top usually cool close to room temperature after a few hours. There is also the concern of the plastic bowls picking up smells from the food, but I usually get rid of it by putting hot water & dish detergent in the bowls to soak them before washing.
Although it takes some work putting the meals together everyday, I feel glad knowing that my husband is eating healthy home-made food, instead of munching on some greasy fast-food or cold sandwiches for lunch. I felt the pinch initially after buying it, but it pays off itself in the first week and I believe the lunch jar will last quite some time if you take good care of it.”

“I bought this thermos lunch container for my son. He is 10 years old and loves it. It keeps the food hot and he loves having the separate containers for a dessert. Although when you first see the size of each container (there are 4), you would think that there is not enough room to put in a fulfilling lunch. However, the containers are perfect. I use the bottom container for soup or a hot drink, the main container for hot food such as rice and chicken, the third container for salad and the fourth container for a dessert. He loves being the only kid in school with such a unique lunchbox and he also loves not having to wait in line to use the microwave!! This is an excellent product for people of all ages and I highly recommend it.”

“I have only been using this for a little over a week, and I am already in love with this Mr. Bento. I would just hit Wendy’s or the lame cafeteria for my lunch, but with this I can bypass that and bring all my goodies from home. I would like to bring lunches from home, but would get aggravated with containers, finding a bag to put it all in, and leakage. With Mr. Bento I am free from all of that hassle. I normally pack a main dish, a side, like soup or some noodles, some veggies, and a little snack. It keeps me satisfied throughout my 8-10 hour workday.
I been looking at this for the longest time and finally purchased it when I saw it was on Sale through Amazon. It has already paid for itself with just a week of use. I would normally spend 5-6 dollars on lunch…eating yucky food. Now I have my delicious meals with things I like to eat at my hand.
If you’re contemplating it, just spurge and get it, I assure you that it’s worth it!”

“This product can hold a lot of food. I mainly use it for my husband. I can put a hot item in the bottom two containers and he can leave it on his desk all day and when he takes it out for lunch the food is still hot. This is particularly convenient since there isn’t a microwave handy for him. If you’re used to a more traditional bento you may enjoy that this does keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold, but you might not know what to do with all the extra space. We were completely satisfied with this product and now my dad wants one, too!”

I’ve been using this over 2 months now and I find it has replaced the lunchbox I take to work. It holds more food and I find that I have to make healthier meals because my junk sandwiches won’t fit in the bowls. I love the spork they included because it’s standard utensil strength and has its own container. I highly recommend this device. Downsides are that it has limited storage pockets and I have to cut up my banana and put it in one of the bowls. Upside is that if I heat my hot food up very hot just prior to putting it in the bowl, it’ll still be warm 6 hours later. With seperate bowls you can eat as much or little as you like.

I too, bought this product because the lunches they serve in the schools these days are a nightmare (chicken nuggets almost every day). My seven year old takes this to school every day and manages it quite well. He enjoys good food, is not picky and prefers my good leftovers from dinner. He has no problems taking this apart and putting it back together again by himself. I microwave the containers of warm food in the morning and they stay warm until his lunchtime with no problems. The only problem we encountered is you cannot put jello in the top container with warm food below or it will be a puddle by lunchtime. This is very minor though. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone who wants to get their child away from the breaded, processed school lunches.
